Good luck with it.

by neil pardoe.

Gggrr, Hurrumph etc. Cleaned out tank, really shitty around the gauze filter in the tank, there was even a wasp in there, well preserved mind....

Chucked a few bolts in and gave it a shake and washed it through. Pulled the tap apart cleaned all that out, stripped the carb and gave it a liberal dose of carb cleaner and put it all back together with an inline filter. Now the truculent git won't even fire up, Grrrrrrrrrr

by phillip fishwick.
After my TS had been sat dormant for the best part of 15 years, I put some bolts in my tank and shook them around for a while then rinsed it out with some clean petrol. Fitted an in line filter and every wit and while I would take the petrol tap bowl off and clean that out. After a while all the rust dust had gone. This could be what's causing your problems.

by James Barrett.
Getting rid of anything loose is a good thing to do if the tank has any crap in it, but you'd have to be very thorough (and lucky) to be sure there was *nothing* left big enough to clog your pilot jet. You can get sealant for fuel tanks, but - in my opinion - they are a bit of a last resort, like when the tank has actually rusted through. John's suggestion of an inline filter is good.

by neil pardoe.

Stout fellows, useful as ever. So maybe there's shite in the tank that keeps working it's way through to the carb? That's been apart more often than .................. well I'll stop there.

Ran lovely for a short time and then this started happening so it makes good sense. Worth getting the tank off and shaking some marbles around for while? What d'ya reckon?

Cheers

Neil
